Merchants Security Service – Employment Opportunities

Merchants Security Service is a stable, family and employee-oriented Dayton company founded in 1901. We serve businesses throughout the Dayton and Miami Valley area and are currently hiring Security Officer Representatives for positions in and near Dayton, including Sidney.

These roles are ideal for:

  • Veterans or military members (active Guard/Reserves)

  • People of all ages (21+ for most positions) with strong customer-service and interpersonal skills

  • Anyone needing a flexible schedule (school, semi-retired/retired, second job, or planning a Criminal Justice career)

  • Weekend-only workers (great pay, less physically demanding than retail, and more dignified)

Common Job Duties (all positions)

  • Greeting guests and giving directions

  • Monitoring cameras

  • Passing individuals through metal detectors or security barriers

  • Maintaining log sheets and activity reports

  • Patrolling premises (inside and outside)

  • General security and customer-service duties

General Requirements (all positions)

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Flexible schedule

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation

  • Clean background check (no felony convictions)

  • Security experience is a plus

Position-Specific Details

Dayton Area | Part-time and full-time positions. Weekends required. Minimum age: 21. Good driving record (4 points or less)

Sidney | Starting at $16.00 per hour. Part-time (can become full-time for the right person) — starts at ~32 hours/week. Weekends required. Minimum age: 18. Good driving record. Additional duties for this manufacturing facility role: Complete rounds by motor vehicle and on foot, lots of walking, high people interaction, and basic computer/smartphone/office-equipment experience required.

Weekend Positions | Great pay for weekend workers! Must be available to work all weekend. Perfect for semi-retired/retired individuals supplementing income, people with a Monday–Friday full-time job wanting a second job, or full-time students earning extra cash.
